The story of the R250-million upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla home broke in bits and pieces over the past four years. Now the Mail & Guardian has pulled together the reporting to tell a story that would define a presidency.

Nkandla The Great Unravelling edition by Phillip De Wet Politics Social Sciences eBooks

I have been following the Nkandla saga since the release of the Mail and Guardian breaking news early December 2009. Reading this short quick-read book helped put developments onto a logical timeline. At the time of writing my comment is just a few days before the next elections in South Africa. One can only wonder in amazement that the majority will really re-elect Jacob Zuma to another 5 year term with all the obfuscation, corruption, incompetence, lies, and 5 years of broken promises boiling around him and his cronies. Following this path could result in South Africa becoming another Zimbabwe with a collapsed economy and greater social unrest. What is sadly amusing is that the ANC supporters have been brainwashed into believing that a vote against the ANC is a vote to reintroduce an apartheid government. Or worse for South Africa with the EFF gaining power—“everything for free” in a grand scale redistribution of wealth and takeover of all businesses and services will cause a rapid decline in its economy. ANC has shown to be the party of corruption where the critical few comrades benefit from raiding the tax war chest to line their own pockets. And what a wonderful example has been established by Zuma, a cANCer on society. The ANC is no longer the party of Nelson Mandela or Thabo Mbeki. One can only hope that at some stage sanity is restored—but unlikely to happen until the quality and standard schooling is improved, versus lowering the standards each successive year to show improvement. And that is a two decade challenge.

Nkandla The Great Unravelling edition by Phillip De Wet Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews

A good account of what happened from author's point of view. The truth to verify is slowly coming out and those behind it should be ashamed.
An excellent book on how President Zuma of South Africa used public money to build himself a magnificent "private residence" while his neighbours live in utter poverty.
Could not believe what is going on behind the scene. What a CORRUPT man Zuma is, and to think that people of any intelligence could vote for him?
This should be compulsory reading on how the ANC has chosen the route of greed to the exclusion of honesty, integrity and the needs of the greater population.
This book is good as a summary of the issues around the Inkandla saga. However those who are looking for new insights or new "revelations" will be disappointed.

It is probably evident to everyone (including Zuma's closest allies and supporters) that Zuma (1) knew everything about the developments at Inkandla from the outset and (2) That certain "fall guys" will eventually take all the blame for the Inkandla saga. Now does the book add any new insights to these "obvious facts"? Not in my opinion. What it does is add subtle nuances which do not alter the bigger picture in any way.

So, Who is likely to find this book interesting?Probably somebody who has been living outside this country and has not kept up to date with developments in SA, who now wants a quick update on South African politics in general and Zuma's administration in particular.
While nothing in this book is new and everything could be found in the public domain, this book is a great summarization of the Nkandlagate scandal, presenting facts about Nkandla and some issues the M&G ran in to publishing some information about Nkandla at the time. If you want to learn more about Nkandla but don't want to or don't have the time to sift through the past several years of archived news - this is the perfect book for you.
"Nkandla", a factual, honest disclosure.
This book had to be written by someone. Too much conjecture, and surmise has gone by, without a someone putting it into the right perspective. One is reviewing an individual and his supposed actions, and also that of his cronies and advisers. If it is factually true ,it is disturbing. The readers must judge for themselves. When can ignorance of events be claimed as an excuse.A true leader must have all the facts at their fingertips. If their advisers get it wrong --often, then fire them Who in the end is the scapegoat.! ?
Who would be a Politician? Mind you they get paid good money by the tax payers (et al). .
The ending of the book needs some rounding off. Probably the author is waiting for a "satisfactory" conclusion.
